More soup on Who want's to be a millionaire 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
In Denmark we are now seeing another soupcooking attempt to prolongue the life cycle of Who wants to be a millionaire. Now contestants are being asked to bring their grandma....
Doesn't it ever stop? We have seen several versions; Junior, Couples, Mother/son, celebrities and many more. How about spending the resources on developing new concepts instead?
How far have you gone in other parts of the world?

I agree - it's a disgrace. It seems that knowledge is no longer enough to be on the show if you are only one person. Hypothetically the smartest person in the world can't win, if he/she is single, has no neighbour, grandparents, friends or children or whatever the criteria for being allowed on the show is this week or the next.

In Finland the tv-show Haluatko miljonääriksi? (Who wants to be a Millionaire?) disappeared from TV in 2006. Problem was not show's popularity as far as I know but they couldn't find enough big sponsors for the show. In the past I followed also the German version from RTL and I have to admit that the Finnish one was very bad in comparison to that. A big problem for the show was also that the broadcasting company had obviously decided not to give 1 000 000€ to anyone even by mistake. The questions started to be extremely difficult already at 10 000€ -in comparison to German show or how it was in the beginning in Finland when the main price was 1 000 000 Finnish marks, roughly 170 000€. They should have kept the main prize at 200 000€ and continue with good quiz questions, maybe the show would still be shown on TV then.

The prizes in Who Wants to be a Millionaire in Denmark are actually up to 1 million DKR (150.000 Euro), but it seems they continue with the team idea. Last week it was pragnent women with their boyfriends...

Another theme recently was celebs and their grown up children, playing for charity.

Very creative, and the show goes on an on - it's commercial TV, so I guess they have the viewers in place.
